When it's forecast to be windy, please make sure items in your yard aren't blown all over the neighborhood. Tie down anything that is loose or store it inside. Secure the lids to your garbage and recycling containers. Besides losing items that make a mess of the neighborhood, your airborne items can cause damage as they bounce along and strike other times (car sides and windows, home windows, etc.).
High wind warnings require homeowner action - Trim tree branches away from your house and powerlines - Secure loose gutters and shutters - Identify an interior room of your house, such as a basement or interior bathroom, that you can take shelter in during high wind warnings - Make a list of items outside your home you will need to tie down or put away so that they don't blow away or fly through a window - When a high wind or severe thunderstorm watch is issued, immediately secure these items to avoid damage or injury once the wind starts picking up - Learn more at http://www.nws.noaa.gov/om/wind/before.shtml Trampolines must be secured in high winds Trampolines are, in essence, large disk shaped objects that are lifted off the ground by about 3ft. This means that wind is free to travel above and below the trampoline mat. The only way to prevent possible damage to your trampoline, home, neighbor's home, etc. is to either take apart the safety net and trampoline mat or tie it down BEFORE THE HIGH WINDS ARRIVE. Learn more about anchoring systems and tie-down stakes at http://trampolinereviewguide.com/trampoline-anchors-tie-down-stakes/ Metco, the Pine Creek landscaping contractor, will be working throughout the community to begin shutting down the irrigation and drip systems in the next coming weeks. They will be conducting fall clean-up throughout the nice weather of November and December and the native grass areas will receive their seasonal "hair-cut" around the middle of November.
Please be mindful of our great Metco crewmembers as they work across our grounds and let Hammersmith know of any issues! For PCVA community areas (sidewalks in the common area): snow is shoveled from the walks once the snow has reached a depth of 2" and the snow has ceased. While the snow removal company does apply some ice-melt in troublesome areas, pedestrians should be aware that walkways may be slippery and caution and care should be used where ice may be present. Snow removal performance does not ensure that there will be 100% no snow or ice. Please notify the Hammersmith Team of any problematic or icy areas so that known issues can be addressed. Contact them via phone 719-389-0700 or submit a work order request easily and efficiently using your homeowner portal accessed at portal.ehammersmith.com.
City Streets: A vast majority of streets in Pine Creek are City owned and maintained. This includes not only pothole-patching and repair issues, but snow plowing as well. If your street has not been plowed, you can request that the City come plow it very easily by issuing a request online at https://coloradosprings.gov/page/citizen-request-gocosprings-app or via the City's GoCOS! smart phone app. Know your risk - Make a plan - Take action
