Remove Marking Flags When Done

7/27/2020

Please remove your yard's marking flags (often placed for sprinkler maintainance, fertilizer warnings, and digging preparation) when your project is done.

Please Do Not Feed Wildlife

7/26/2020

While wildlife is common in the Pine Creek area, please do not encourage human/animal encounters by feeding the wildlife. Mice, rabbits, squirrels, skunks, raccoons, and other rodents can carry and spread disease via fleas, droppings, urine, nesting materials, and bites which can lead to problems with Hantavirus and Plague, Rabies, and Tularemia. Please do not leave garbage, pet food, or leftovers outside, and do not set out food for rabbits or squirrels. This both attracts wild animal and increases the chance of a harmful encounter, both for your home and those nearby.

Most dangerous and potentially harmful encounters with wildlife occur because people fail to leave the animals alone.

It is illegal in Colorado to feed deer. Violators may be fined.

How to Display the American Flag

7/23/2020

Do you know the official rules for properly displaying the U.S. flag?
  • Display the flag outside from sunrise to sunset. If you want to fly it after dark, it will need to be lit.
  • Don’t fly the flag during inclement weather, unless it’s an all-weather flag.
  • The union of the flag--the blue section with white stars--should be placed at the peak of the staff
  • When the flag is displayed on a flat surface like a wall, the union should be at the top left.
  • The flag should never touch anything beneath it, so make sure it’s hoisted at the proper height.
  • Half-staff: During periods of mourning, it is common to see the flag flying at half-staff. Only presidents can proclaim such periods for a national remembrance. Governors can also declare mourning periods at a local level. Traditionally, states and local governments follow the president’s proclamation during a period of national mourning.
  • Take care of your flag. Store your flag in a well-ventilated area. If it gets wet, make sure it’s completely dry before storing it.
  • If the flag is damaged or worn out, it should be burned and disposed of with dignity.

Help Protect the Stucco Walls

7/22/2020

Part of the Association's responsibilities is the maintenance of the stucco walls that "surround" Pine Creek. As I'm sure you can imagine, the cost of that maintenance -- repairing the stucco as it flakes off, painting it, conserving the look-and-feel -- is a big part of our annual budget. One of the issues that has been noticed more often recently is the number of people (old and young) taking a shortcut by climbing over the wall near their home. Please ask your residents and visitors not to do so and help us preserve the walls in as good a condition as we can.
