The Colorado Springs Fire Department announced that a burn ban in effect since May 16 has been downgraded to burn restrictions as of noon Friday, June 3.
The burn restrictions will be in place indefinitely. For information about Burn Restrictions, visit COSWildfireReady.org/burn-restrictions(link is external) The Colorado Springs Fire Department, by and through its Division of the Fire Marshal, determines measures are necessary to maintain fire hazard awareness and continue to reduce fire risks in order to protect health and safety which are essential. Therefore, due to current and forecasted weather conditions, dry fuel moisture levels, and ongoing grass fire occurrence on undeveloped areas of Colorado Springs, as well as the National Preparedness Level of 2, Burn Ban Order 2022-B1 is rescinded and replaced by Burn Restriction Order 2022-R2. Homeowners are responsible for maintaining all improvements on their lot in a manner consistent with the "Community-Wide Standard" which includes the maintenance of landscape, irrigation and sidewalks within the easements on their property.
