How can I be ready for an emergency?

5/15/2022

Prepare for Emergencies
  • Know Your Risks. Make Your Plan. Improve Your Outcome.
  • Prepare for emergencies before the crisis or disaster impacts your family or the community.
  • The Colorado Springs Office of Emergency Management provides great resource to help residents get ready for a bad day. Topics include:
    • Know Your hazards (flash flooding, wildfire, severe winter weather)
    • Sign up for Emergency Alerts. Not all emergency alerts provide the same information so it’s important to understand the types of alerts out there and what they provide.
    • Make a Plan. Creating plans for family communications, loved ones with special needs, household matters, financial documents and evacuation are all part of being well prepared.
    • Build A Kit. A disaster supplies kit is simply a collection of basic items your household may need in the event of an emergency.
  • Visit the site for in-depth discussion and handy checklists at https://coloradosprings.gov/office-emergency-management/page/preparedness

Plan to Evacuate BEFORE You Must
  • Many kinds of emergencies can cause you to have to evacuate. In some cases, you may have a day or two to prepare while other situations might call for an immediate evacuation. Planning is vital to making sure that you can evacuate quickly and safely no matter what the circumstances.
  • The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has many resources at its site to help plan for emergencies year-round, 24/7.

Does PCVA have Pet Waste Stations?

5/15/2022

Pet Waste Stations
  • Pine Creek has 24 pet waste stations that provide a convenient way to dispose of your pet's waste properly while keeping the walkways clear and smelling nice.
  • Each station has bags and a waste disposal container.
  • The pet waste stations in Pine Creek are numbered on the back side of each console. If you experience an issue with a station, such as the bins needs emptying, or the bags are out, please call 719-389-0700 and request a work order, citing the number on the station.
  • The stations are serviced each Wednesday. Find them while you are out and about:
- Download a map: http://www.pcva.org/uploads/7/8/8/7/78875826/pine_creek_pet_waste_station_map.pdf

What are the rules about having a private garage sale?

4/14/2022

The PCVA governing documents do not prohibit private garage sales. They do, however, prohibit the placement of signs advertising and directing garage sales. PCVA sponsors 2 community wide garage sales a year - one in the spring and one in the fall. Please visit the home page (www.pcva.org) to see when the next garage sale is planned. It's really a good deal - the PCVA Community Connection Committee sets up online registration, provides digital maps and address lists, and advertises online and via social media. We highly recommend that you take advantage of the association's twice annual garage sales rather than holding a private garage sale.
