Grounds Committee Update - June 23rd
The Grounds Committee is well aware that some PCV home owners prefer grass instead of rock mulch or wood mulch but the Grounds Committee is committed to reduce PCV water usage where the original landscape was installed by the Developer is wasting water due to the terrain. The look of PCV will be changing in coming months and years to save water, plus reduce maintenance cost due to Colorado Springs Utilities Mandatory Water Restrictions at different times in a given year or years.
When PCV is placed on Mandatory Water Restrictions by CSU our grass dies, trees die, and our plants die due to lack of sufficient water. When this happens we will change the landscape to adapt to the current conditions, so we don't have the year-to-year cost of grass, tree or plant replacement.
Over the years we have installed several Satellite Sprinkler Controllers called WeatherTRAK Smart Irrigation ( in an effort to take some of the guess work out of how much or how often to water. This technology is also available to residential owners as well as large commercial properties.
As we move to summers hotter temps we will put a larger demand on our current reservoirs water sheds which are below our normal. Current reservoirs are 67.0% full, reservoirs are normally 82.0% full for this same time period. Our snow pack run off has peaked and the run off will start to slow.
As home owners of PCV the Grounds Committee hopes you are on board to help Save Water were you can also.
