Do you know the difference between xeriscaping and zeroscaping?
- Colorado Statute 37-60-126 established the state water conservation and drought mitigation plan, which defines xeriscape as “the principles of landscape planning and design, soil analysis and improvement, appropriate plant selection, limitation of turf area, use of mulches, irrigation efficiency, and appropriate maintenance that results in water use efficiency and water-saving practices.”
- Xeriscaping is a way to reduce the grass footprint in your yard and replace it with drought-tolerant plant materials and wood/rock mulch for an aesthetic landscaping that blends into the neighborhood.
- Zeroscaping is a term for the removal of all plant material and replacing it with mulch, which is not allowed in PCVA.
