Recently, the arborists for the PCVA have been spraying the pine and spruce trees in the common areas of Pine Creek to protect them against boring beetles (as in beetles that bore holes in trees, not beetles that are tedious and uninteresting!). In doing so, they have identified a few trees that will be cut down because they are infected and might contaminate others. Our advice, if you also have conifer trees in your yard, is to have them inspected and sprayed at least once a year to safeguard them against these beetles. It would be far better to spray to avoid the issue than have to have your fully-grown tree cut down.
