The El Paso County Clerk and Recorder’s Office is alerting property owners to an increase in mortgage and property fraud. There has been a rise in people filing fraudulent deeds, mortgages, or other liens against a property without the owner’s knowledge or consent.
The Clerk’s Recording Department, which records deeds and other documents, is providing a safeguard for owners. A new Recording Notification Service (RNS) is a free tool to bring peace of mind to property owners. Residents will receive email alerts for any exact matches of names or name variations registered. You may register up to 10 items per email address. Notifications are only for documents recorded in the El Paso County Clerk and Recorder’s Office after you subscribe to the service.
