PCVA Little Free Library

8/15/2025

Picture

The Community Connections Committee and neighborhood volunteers installed a Little Free Library at the PCVA Private Park Pavilion.
Email [email protected] to report any problems.

A Little Free Library is a free book-sharing box where anyone may take a book or share a book. They function on the honor system. You do not need to share a book in order to take one.
If you take a book or two from a little library, try to bring some to share to that same library, or another in your area, when you can.

Stopped School Bus Passing Rules

8/15/2025

A new rule, enacted May 24, requires drivers approaching a stopped school bus from an oncoming lane to stop “unless there is a physical barrier separating the opposing directions of traffic,” according to a news release.

“Painted lines or a painted median will no longer be sufficient,” the release stated. “There needs to be a median (raised or depressed) or a physical barrier separating the lanes.”

Drivers are required to stop at least 20 feet before reaching a stopped school bus with flashing red lights, regardless of which side of the road it is on, and must remain stopped until the flashing lights are turned off. Motorists are further advised to proceed cautiously after the bus begins to move, as children may be attempting to cross the street.

Illegally passing a stopped school bus, with its red lights flashing, is punishable by a fine of up to $300, a mandatory court appearance and six points against the offender's driver's license, according to Colorado law.

CSU Energy Wise Rates Start Oct 1st

8/15/2025

Energy Wise Rates allows customers to save on their bills by using electricity during times of lower demand, called "off-peak" hours.  These rates aim to shift demand for power away from "peak" hours, when it costs more to provide electricity.

On Oct. 1, this rate will be the new standard option for customers. CSUwill transition most customers to this rate structure by early 2026. Customers can choose to switch to a Fixed Seasonal Rate option or choose an Energy Wise Plus Rate, which rewards customers even more for shifting their electric use.

On-peak vs. off-peak:
Customers pay different rates for electricity based on the time of day it is used.

On-peak
  • Higher rates
  • Weekdays from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m.
  • Does not include weekends or holidays.
Off-peak
  • Lower rates
  • Weekdays before 5 p.m. and after 9 p.m.
  • Includes weekends and holidays
