Winter Watering Tips

2/15/2026

Even though landscape plants are dormant and brown, they should be watered periodically.
When to water
  • Water one to two times per month from November to April.
  • Choose a warm winter day with air temperature above 40 degrees and unfrozen soil.
What to water
  • It is most important to water newly planted lawns, trees, shrubs and flowers.
  • Established lawn areas and trees, especially those in sunny, windy, or exposed areas should also be a high priority.
  • Do not winter water cacti, succulents, buffalograss, blue grama and very xeriscape plants.
How to water
  • Use a hose-end sprinkler or watering wand. Set a timer so you don't overwater.
  • Remove the hose from the spigot after watering to prevent freeze damage.
  • Water slowly so it can soak in.

Letter from the PCVA Board President

2/15/2026

It has been my privilege to serve the homeowners and residents of Pine Creek Village.

As I begin my second two-year term on the Board of Directors, I want you to know I serve you.  I know the heart of our board members and I can say we are unified in our desire to serve our neighbors to the best of our abilities.

To serve you better, we want a dialogue with you.  The best way to get something on our radar is to send us an email through the PCVA portal.  That way we can be made aware of issues you may have in our neighborhood – and, if it is something in our purview, we will work with our management company to get the issues resolved in a timely manner.

Our community is a longstanding example to our region on homeowner and resident cooperation.  You, neighbor, help make Pine Creek the beautiful community it is for the Pikes Peak region.

Thank you,
Andy Petersen
Board of Directors, President

New Modifications Committee Chair Note

2/15/2026

Hi, I’m Esther Lee, the new Chair of the Modifications Committee. I’m excited to serve our community and help keep our neighborhood looking great! Here are a few quick updates and requests:
  • We currently have 3 committee members (myself, Huiming Chen & Lisa Fargo) and can have up to 5. If you’d like to visit a meeting and see if you’d like to volunteer, we’d love to have you. www.pcva.org/resident-committees.html
  • Choosing paint colors can be tricky, so we partnered with Sherwin Williams to put the Pine Creek paint palette online. You can view it here: https://www.sherwin-williams.com/homeowners/color/find-and-explore-colors/hoa/colorado-springs/co/pine-creek-village-association/
  • Prefer to see colors in person? The Hammersmith office has a binder with physical swatches available.
  • Planning exterior work this year? You’re welcome to submit your Design Review Request early. Beat the rush! Projects are usually required to be finished within 2 months, but early submissions can be approved with a longer completion timeline. www.pcva.org/design-review-request.html
Thank you for helping preserve the beauty and value of our community.
