Recently, a Pine Creek resident decided it was time to remove and replace the original composite decking material the builder provided on their home, and when the old decking material was removed, they found that "many" of the structural components, to include the beams (wood members the joists sit on or are attached to), joists (wood members the deck material is fastened to), and even the stair stringers (wood members that support the steps) had excessive wood rot and had to be replaced. Even if you are satisfied with the surface of your deck, consider having a deck contractor evaluate the structural components of your deck, especially the stringers and the beam the stairs are fastened to at the top of your stairs. This will be money well spent, as the results may surprise you.

The City of Colorado Springs implemented a data-sharing partnership with Waze
(http://www.waze.com), the free, real-time crowd sourced navigation app. In an effort to equip motorists with tools to navigate roadway construction city leaders proactively looked for ways to share closure, construction and other road information with drivers across the city.
Waze, the GoCoSprings App and the Cone Zone map on www.ColoradoSprings.gov are three ways that the City is working to provide drivers with information about location and impact of road construction on their routes and across the city.
